Scoper, Bertha - April 7, 1997
Mrs. Bertha Scoper, 87, of Pass Christian, died Monday, April, 7, 1997, in Pass Christian.
Mrs. Scoper was a native of Cuevas. She retired as a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pass Christian and was honored for teaching Sunday school for more than 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent G. Scoper Sr.; a son, Gerald Lee Scoper; five brothers, George Scarborough, William Alton Scarborough, Freddie Scarborough, Oliver Scarborough and J. D. Scarborough; and a sister, Gladys James.
Survivors include two sons, Vincent G. Scoper Jr. of Laurel and Gordon Scoper of Baton Rouge; a sister, Clara Woodcock; four half-sisters, Myrtle Scarborough, both of Pass Christian; Betty Allen of Montgomery, Ala., Rachel Deshong of Nicevilla, Fla, and Willie Ann Scarborough of Gulfport; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday evening at Riemann Funeral Home in Pass Christian. Services were conducted Friday at First Baptist Church in Pass Christian. Burial was in Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
