Winston A. Vaz, 69, of Bay St. Louis, died Friday, Jan 8, 1999, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Vaz was a retired Orleans Parish public school teacher and was a bailiff with theHancock County Sheriff's Department of Bay St. Louis. He began his teaching career in South Bend, Indiana Community Schools System from 1957-1969. In 1969 he moved to New Orleans, where he worked as a special education teacher for 25 years. Mr. Vaz was a member of Union Bethel AM|E Church, where he served on the usher board. He was a member of St. Peter Lodge, 31, Free and Accepted Masons Prince Hall Affiliation.
Survivors include his wife, Lois W. Vaz of Bay St. Louis; a son, Winston A. Vaz III of Tracy, Calif,; a daughter, Kim Vaz of Tamps, Fla; and three grandchildren.
Serevices were conducted Tuesday at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. Burial was in Cedar Rest Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.
