Whavers, Robert J. Sr. - November 9, 1997
Robert Jerome Whavers, Sr., 51, of Bay St. Louis, died Sunday, Nov 9, 1997, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Whavers was a native and lifelong resident of Bay ST. Louis. He was a member of Valena C. Jones United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis and was the coach for the community men's softball team. He was employed with Atlas Powder Import and Export for 15 years and served in the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Whavers Sr. And Roberta Whavers.
Survivors include his wife, Lavern Whavers; a daughter, Rosalyn J. Whavers, both of Bay St. Louis; three sons, Robert J. Whavers of Slidell, Richard J. Whavers of Ocean Springs, and Rodney J. Whavers of Picayune; two brothers, Walter Whavers Jr. Of Bay St. Louis and Wilford Whavers of Durham, N. C.; six sisters, Ina Clare Whavers, Iris Wilkerson, Dionne Whavers, Doris Price, Paulette Haynes and Jocelyn Whavers, all of Bay St. Louis, Odessa Benoit, Phyllis Whavers and Arlene Whavers, all of Waveland; and eight grandchildren.
Services were conducted Saturday at Valena C. Jones United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis. Burial followed in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.
Lockett-Williams Mortuary in Gulfport was in charge of arrangements.
