Whitfield, Lucie Elanore Blanchard - November 19, 1956
Mrs. Lucie Elanore Blanchard Whitfield, former Bay St. Louis resident, died at her home in Mobile, Alabama, Monday, November 19, at 4:00 p.m. following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Whitfield, the wife of E. Van Whitfield, former Hancock County Sheriff, was the daughter of the late Captain Onizephore Blanchard and Lucie Ann Seuzeneau.
Mrs. Whitfield, who moved to Bay St. Louis in 1909, resided here until 1935 at which time she and Mr. Whitfield moved to Mobile to make their home.
Funeral services were held from the funeral home of Pat J. McMahon-Coburn Company at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21. Interment was in St. Louis's No. 3 cemetery.
Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Rufus Whitfield of Pascagoula, Mississippi; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Luva Dodd of Jackson; five brothers, Joseph S. Blanchard of Bay St. Louis; A. M. and M. O. Blanchard of Mobile; Jefferson Sr. and Onizephore Blanchard of New Orleans; three sisters, Mrs. Edna McCleod, Mobile; Mrs. Armantine Trawick and Mrs. Elvie Pence of New Orleans; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
