FROZEN TO DEATH.

HENRY MAYFIELD, A YOUNG MAN.

Twenty Years of Age, Out In The Woods Meets With The Foregoing Unfortunate Fate.

The intense and general cold of past few weeks has been severe in the extreme and the victims of the spell have been numerous in number.Cold weather has oft times been very severe in this section and much suffering occasioned therefrom, but at no time has the occurence of a body being frozen to death from outdoor exposure right here at home in our very midst.

Last Saturday, the 9th, during the day time, Henry Mayfield, a resident of Wolf river, left his home for the woods in search of several milch cows belonging to the house and had failed to make their regular appearance at the accustomed time. The young man remained away very long it was thought and as the day drew to a close much anxiety was felt, but nothing serious was entertained until night came when the fear of his kinsmen grew very alarming. A search party was immediately formed and its work was soon commended but nothing encouraging rewarded their long walk.

Three days later the missing young man was found in the woods, frozen stiff and life found extinct. He was twenty years of age. His death caused much sorrow among the people of his section where he was well known and esteemed.
