Smith, Laurent S. - January 5, 2003
Laurent S. Smith, age 94, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi died on Sunday, January 5, 2003 in Carriere, MS.
A native of upstate New York, Smith has been a resident of the Mississippi Coast since 1969 when he retired from Shell Oil; Company in New Orleans.
This retirement followed a lengthy career in Drafting and Engineering, which included the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Smith was best known for his work in Fine Arts, specializing in Southern Landscapes, town and country scenes, done with oil on canvas in highly detailed realism.
He is survived by his son, Gary Spencer Smith of Bay St. Louis, MS and daughter, Laurie Tampkin of Columbia, South Carolina and granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Maze of Spring, Texas.
Friends and relatives and artists are invited to attend the Graveside Service on Thursday January 9, 2003 P.M. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie, Louisiana. Arrangements are under the direction of Schoen Funeral Home, Slidell, LA.
