Watts, Virginia Chapman  -  July 21, 1969

Mrs. Virginia Chapman Watts, 60, native and life-long resident of Bay St. Louis, died at 3:10 pm, Monday, July 21, at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans where she had been a patient for about 10 days.

She was born March 18, 1909, daughter of the late William Joseph and Carline Bukley West Chapman. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was secretary of the church at the time of her death. She was also Past President of the Women's Guild of Christ Episcopal Church and a member of the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club where she served as secretary at one time.

Mrs. Watts is survived by her husband, J.W. Watts Jr.; three sons, James W. Watts, III, Dallas, Texas, Alfred C. Watts, Albuquerque, N. Mexico, and Richard H. Watts, Bay St. Louis; two brothers, Lawrence Chapman, New Orleans, and Wallace Chapman, Biloxi; three sisters, Mrs. Carl Marshall, New Orleans, Mrs. Alice Dupaquier, Bay St. Louis, and Mrs. Norvin H. Penrose, Waveland.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating, assisted by the Rev. M.L. Agnew, curate. Interment was in Cedar Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: John W. Dupaquier, Harry G. Chapman, Carl Marshall III, Edouard M. Dupaquier, Norvin H. Penrose, Jr., and Charles A. Breath, Jr.
