Labat, Portia Leonora 'Nan'  -  April 17, 1995

Portia Leonora "Nan" Labat, 99, of Bay St. Louis, died Monday, April 17, 1995 in Gulfport.

Ms. Labat was a retired school teacher and educator.

She was a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis and a parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church. She taught elementary school teacher in Logtown, Pearlington and at Valena C. Jones in Bay St. Louis. She was a member of the St. Rose de Lima Altar Society and of the Hancock County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Leonora Labat; three brothers, Fabian Labat, Joseph Sumner Labat and Lucien Labat; three sisters, Inez Labat, Sylvia Labat Randall and Chlothide Labat Yancey.

Survivors include a brother, Victor Labat of New Orleans; three sisters, Celestine Labat, Veronica Labat both of Bay St. Louis, and Elise Labat Webster of Meridian, Miss.

Visitation will be Saturday at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis at 9:30 a.m., followed by celebration of Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Rest Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

J.T. Hall Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
