Joyner, Violet Harrison  -  April 4, 2009

Violet Harrison Joyner passed away on April 4, 2009.

She was 88 years of age and was residing in a nursing home in Mobile, Alabama. She was the beloved wife of Albert McLeod Joyner for 72 years. She was born in Foss, Oklahoma and grew up on a farm in Summerdale, Alabama. Violet and her husband, Albert, lived in New Orleans for 58 years and the last 12 years in Diamondhead, Mississippi.

She is the mother A. Rex Joyner (Mary Ann) of Metairie, LA, Jacque Drane (Phillip) of Mobile and Jay M. Joyner (Pam) of Corvallis, Mt. Violet has 10 grandchildren and 4 great-children. Her grandchildren are Gary (Sheila), Michael and David. (Tammy) Joyner; Carter (Whitney) and Kevin (Jodi) Drane; and Travis, Tyler, Sarah, Eleana and Vlade Joyner. The great-grandchildren are Maggie and Nash Joyner, and Meghan and Kevin McLeod Drane, Jr. Violet is also survived by her two sisters, Ruth Moore of Leedy, OK, and Eulala Bauer of Smarr, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Edward Harrison and Ida Avera Harrison and two brothers, Robert Edward, Jr. and Leonard Harrison.

Violet was active in the Elysian Fields Methodist Church in New Orleans and Diamondhead Methodist Church. She was always there for her children and active in all of their scouting and athletic events.

A special thanks to the staff of Cogburn Rehabilitation Home and Atria Assisted Living in Mobile, AL.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Diamondhead Methodist Church with the service at 3:00 pm and the visitation from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

Burial will follow in Cedar Rest Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
