Breland, Mrs. Newton  -  June 21, 1933

At 7:15 June 21, 1933, Mrs. Newton Breland, wife of the Reverend Newton Breland, who preceded her to the grave about six years ago, died at her home about 15 miles northeast of Picayune. Mrs. Breland had been in ill health for several years, but became critically ill only a week before her death. Burial was made in the family cemetery near the old home on June 22, the Reverend J. P. Culpepper saying the last rites.

After their marriage, Mrs. Breland settled with her preacher husband in what was known as Anner Community. A little church was erected near the home, where they worshipped and led in religious and social life for many, many years. A large family was reared; the deceased is survived by five sons: Bruce, Joe, Walter, John, and Basil; and six daughters: Mrs. John Smith, Mrs. H. F. Womack, Mrs. D. C. Lee, Mrs. J. O. White, Mrs. B. R. Smith, and Mrs. L. J. Lee.
