Cowand, Maj. Jessie R. Sr. - Unknown Date
Retired Maj. Jessie R. Cowand Sr., 72, died Tuesday in De Paul Hospital in Norfolk,VA. He was a former resident of Bay St. Louis and had graduated from Mississippi A&M College in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Army Signal Corps and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eloise Jones Cowand of Norfolk; one son, Jesse R. Cowand Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Eugenia) McClelland of Arlington, Va.; five brothers, Carl Cowand of Metairie, La., Elliott Cowand of New Orleans, Malcolm Cowand of Bay St. Louis, Hubert Cowand and Glen Cowand of Spring, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Helene Price of Bay St. Louis, Miss Ruby Cowand of Gulfport and Mrs. J.R. (Eulalie) Jordy of Livingston, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be form 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Riemann-Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis. Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel followed by burial in the Cowand Cemetery.
