diBenedetto, Josephine Alessi - December 10, 1957
Mrs. Josephine Alessi diBenedetto, Bay St. Louis, who would have observed her 79th birthday Friday, December 13, died Tuesday at 8:15 p. m. at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Mrs. diBenedetto, ill only a short time, was admitted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
She was born Dec. 13, 1878 in Sicily, but had been a citizen of the United States nearly all of her life. She was a resident of Bay St. Louis for 50 years, residing at 325 Carroll Avenue. Mrs. diBenedetto was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
Mrs. diBenedetto who was well known and respected in Bay St. Louis, where she and her husband had operated as merchants for many years was the mother of Mrs. J. C. Roland, Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. Harry J. Benjamin, Bay St. Louis; Mrs. Paul Doyle, Metairie, La.; Anthony diBenedetto, Albuquerque. New Mexico; George diBenedetto, Bay St. Louis; Joseph V. diBenedetto, West Palm Beach, Fla. Sister of Mrs. Joseph Leontini of Gulfport, and N. V. Alessi, of Douglas, Arizona and a number of grandchildren.
Services were held from Fahey Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 12 at 9:45 a. m., followed by religious services from Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Msgr. Michael McCarthy, officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
