Doss, Benjamin F.  -  September 9, 1997

Benjamin F. Doss, 76, of Diamondhead, died Tuesday, Sept 9, 1997, in Bay St. Louis.

Mr. Doss was a former resident of New Orleans. He was a native of Talmo, Ga., and a longtime resident of Diamondhead. He was a U. S. Navy fighter pilot during World War II, and a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgoa. He was a credit sales manager for Sears Roebuck and Co. for 32 years and was a member of the Rotary Club of New Orleans East and of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead, where he was a Vestry member for three years. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Diamondhead Community Association and former member of the board of directors of Diamondhead Academy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy D. Doss of Diamondhead; son Benjamin F. Doss Jr. of Covington, and James D. Doss of New Orleans; daughters Tuman of Tuscaloosa, Ala,; Kathryn Ritter of St. John, Virgin Island; brothers Bert Doss and Edward Doss, both of Gainesville, Ga,; sisters |Lucille Kelly of Tucker, Ga., and Donald Parks of Gainesville; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead, followed by a Memorial Service at the church.

Riemann Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis was in charge of arrangements.
