Duplantis, Amanda - February 27, 1954
NEW ORLEANS. - Sister St. Philip Duplantis, O. Carm., died at Hotel Dieu Saturday, Feb. 27. She was a native of Little Caillou, Terrebonne civil parish, La., and the former Amanda Duplantis, daughter of Eli Duplantis and Marie Babin.
Sister St. Philip's Funeral Mass was offered in the mother house chapel, Robert E. Lee boulevard, March 1. Interment was in St. Louis No. 3 cemetery.
Sister St. Philip entered the Order of Carmel 60 years ago and at the age of 76 was in the 57th year of her religious profession. She spent most of her religious life at the mother house and St. Adele Villa, Bay St. Louis. She was also missioned in Abbeville, New Iberia and Thibodaux where she was very active with the students and well loved by them.
Sister St. Philip is survived by two nieces--Mother Mary Angela, O. Carm., principal of Mt. Carmel academy, and Mrs. William G. Gravson of Little Rock, Ark.
