Fayard, Van Meter Sr.  -  February 20, 1999

Van Meter Fayard, Sr., 70, of Waveland, died Saturday, Feb 20, 1999 in Waveland.

He was a native of Bay St. Louis and a lifelong resident of Waveland. He was a Catholic, a veteran of the U. S. Navy and Air Force, a member of the VFW Post # 3253, Bay St. Louis, a life member of the Disabled American Veterams and alumnus of St. Stanislaus, honorary citizen of Boys Town, Boys Town Nebraska. He wa a retired crew boat captain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Anatole and Mary Elizabeth Byais Fayard and one sister, Doris Kingston.

He is survived by his son Van Meter Fayard, Jr. Of Mobile, Al; three daughters, Slyvia Oliver of Ozark, Ala; Cheryl Coogan and Cynthia Fayard, both of Bay St. Louis; two brothers, Huey Fayard of La., Mickey Fayard of Bay St. Louis; three sisters, Geraldine Hebert and Barbara Kingston of Bay St. Louis and Mollly Covey of Ohio; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb 26, 1999, at 2 p.m. at our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis is in charge of the arrangements.
