Garriga, James L. - June 17, 1997
James L. Garriga, 72, of Bay St. Louis, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, in Bay ST. Louis.
Mr. Garriga was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Church and was a former chairman of DIGG Committee composed of Municipalities of Biloxi, Gulfport, Long Beach and Pass Christian, South Central Bell and Coast TV Cable companies to coordinate and standardize work procedures and all underground construction and maintenance in the Coast area. He was a member of Pere le Duc Council of Knights of Columbus, a member of VFW Post 6285 Kiln, former member of American Legion Post 139 and AARP. He was a longtime employee of Coast Electric Power Association.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James L. Garriga and Gregory A. Garriga; his parents, George Garriga and Mary Petronia Curet Garriga; a brother, Percy Garriga; and two sisters, Grace Rhodes and Catherine Brackman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Jackson Garriga of Bay St. Louis; a daughter, Jacqueline E. Garriga of Bay St. Louis; and a brother, Leo Garriga of Fenton.
Visitation will be today, 7-10 p.m. at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday, June 20 at 9:45 a.m. for celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
