Gilbert, James, Rev  -  August 14, 1998

The Rev. James Pascal Gilbert, 71, of Bay St. Louis, died Friday, August 14, 1998, in Jackson.

Mr. Gilbert was a native of White Bluff and a member of Shoreline Park Baptist Church where he was pastor for the past two years. He served 35 years on the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, in Panama and Ecuddor. Also , he served as Language Missions Director of the Gulf Coast Baptist Association from 1991-1996 and was a member aned Chaplain of the Aflague Group.

He was a member of the Navy League, the American Ledion Post 77 in Waveland and the Gulf Coast Baptist Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin J. And Mary Lewis Gilbert and one brother, J. T. Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Gilbert of Bay St. Louis, one son, Lt. Commander James P. Gilbert, Jr., CHC of Penscola, Fla; two daughters, Jean Dale Hicks of Montrgomery, Ala., and Patricia Ann Corey of Pass Christian; one brother, John L. Gilbert, of Franklinton, La., and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Ray of Purvis.

Visitation is today, August 16 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay ST. Louis. Funeral services will be Monday, August 17 from 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis where friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi where there will be graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis is in charge of arrangements.
