Gilly, Eldon J. - October 6, 1997
Eldon Joseph Gilly, 80, a resident of Waveland for the past 25 years, died Monday, Oct 6, 1997, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Gilly was born Dec. 21, 1916 in New Orleans and was the son of the late Rollo and Emma Hodge Gilly. Mr. Gilly was also preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Gilly Thorson, Irma Gilly Beals and Beverly Gilly Bourgeois.
Mr. Gilly was a veteran of World War II. He retired as vice-president of Emery Air Freight. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 in Waveland, New Orleans Traffic Club, Bay-Waveland Yacht Club,member and past president of the Export Managers Club and member and past president of the New Orleans World Trade Club. He was also past president of Mississippi Valley World Trade Conference and a past member of the International House.
Mr. Gilly is survived by his wife, Theone Rittiner Gilly of Waveland, daughter Gail Gilly of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland. Burial was private.
