Handy, Mary Lee  -  July 4, 1996

Mrs. Mary Lee Handy, born to John and Carrie Smiley , Aug 25, 1909, in Marengo County, Ala; died July 4, 1996.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 65 years. She served as Sunday School teacher, treasurer of the Senior Choir, member of the Trustee Board and treasurer of the United Methodist Women's Organization. Mrs. Handy taught in the public schools of Hancock County, Perry County and Harrison County. She retired March 1874.

Survivors include an adopted sister, Mildred Fox of Gulfport; a cousin, Henry Coats of Columbus, Ohio; and a godchild, Mrs. Theodora Breaux Smith of St. Louis, Ill; special friends, Mrs. Annie Adams of Pass Christian and Thomas D. Barnes of Gulfport. She was being cared for by Mrs. Pamela Jacobs of De Lisle.

Services were conducted Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pass Christian. ;Burial was in Waveland Cemetery.

Richmond Funeral Home in Gulfport was in charge of arrangements.
