Haynes, Melvina  -  November 19, 1999

Melvina Haynes, 87, of Kiln, died Friday, Nov 19, 1999, in Diamondhead.

Mrs. Haynes was a native of Geenhead, Miss. and was a life-long resident of Kiln. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kiln.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Gillum; her mother, Josephine Chambers Gillum; her husband, Wallace Haynes Sr. two diaughters and three sons, and two brothers, Charlie Gillum and Willie Parker.

Survivors include four sons, Wallace Haynes Jr. and Toy Haynes, both of Bay St. Louis, Loray Haynes of Gulfport and Lionel Haynes of Waveland; seven daughters, Octavia Dunmore, Irene Laneuux, Annie Merle Nelson and Laverne Whavers, all of Bay St. Louis, Clara Mae Hardy of South Floral Park, N.Y., Joan Hargett and Irma Hawkins, both of Waveland; three sisters, Emma Powell and Rosie Taylor, both of Bay St. Louis, and Stella Williams of New Orleans; 49 grandchildren 69 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Kiln, followed by interment in Kiln Cemetery.

Lockett-Williams' Mortuary in Gulfport was in charge of arrangements.
