Bermond, Joseph “Joe” of Kiln-Fenton has announced his candidacy for Hancock County Tax Collector-Tax Assessor.  Semi-retired after an active business career of 30 years, the Korean War veteran is active in various veteran and civic organizations.  Bermond, a Democrat, attended St. Stanislaus and Bay High School.  He aslo attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas for two years. Because hancock County is growing so quickly, Bermond said, if he is elected he will investigate the feasibility of separating the office of tax collector and tax assessor.
