Scafide, Arthur Aloysius - Unknown Date
Arthur Aloysius Scafide, 54, prominent business man and civic leader of Bay St. Louis, died Monday afternoon at 3:05 o'clock at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Mr. Scafide was a native of Bay St. Louis.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Fahey Funeral Home, Bay St. Louis, Wednesday morning at 9:45 o'clock with Requiem Mass at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Scafide was head of the Hancock Insurance Agency in Bay St. Louis and was head cashier of the Hancock Bank there for 27 years before his retirement from that position seven years ago.
He was past president of the Bay St. Louis Rotary Club and a past grand knight of the Pere Le Duc Lodge 1522, Knights of Columbus.
The son of the late Frances Loiacano and Andrew Scafide, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine Pravata Scafide; three daughters, Miss Mary Frances Scafide, Miss Sandra Scafide, Mrs. John V. Beninate, new Orleans; two sons, Andrew Joseph Scafide, New Orleans; and Arthur A. Scafide, Jr., U. S. Army, Fort Jackson, S. C.; one brother Mayor John Scafide, Bay St. Louis; seven sisters, Miss Amelia Scafide, Mrs. Charles Carter, Mrs. V. J. Frankiewiez, Mrs. Curtis Matherne, all of Bay St. Louis; and Mrs. L. R. Murtaugh and Mrs. Leo Blaize, Jr., Port Allen; and Mrs. Paul Laguens, New Orleans; and three grandchildren.
