Wingerter, Mary - February 25, 1959
Miss Mary Wingerter, for many years a nurse at St.Stanislaus College Infirmary, died at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday in Touro-Shakespeare Infirmary, home for the aged, at Algiers.
Miss Wingerter, the daughter of the late J. Valentine and Theresa Steif Wingerter, natives of Germany, was born at Gretna. She was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School, Gretna, and graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing, New Orleans. She served 10 years there including seven as supervisor of the maternity ward.
In 1924 she came to Bay St. Louis, where for 12 years she served as nurse at the infirmary. She was known to the students and their parents for her devotion to her profession and her young patients. She had lived on Carroll Avenue.
Since October she had been at the Algiers infirmary.
Services were at Fahey-Whitfield funeral home with requiem mass and religious services at 9 a.m. today in Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Laurent Kergosien, Ulysses Cuevas, Graham Jordy, J. E. Erwin, Harold Sticklet and Horace Kergosien.
Honorary pallbearers were Laurent Dickson, Al Cox, Joseph Kern, Dr. A. K. Martinolich Jr., Dr. Frank Schmidt, William P. Kenny, Theodore Stechman, J. T. Jacobs, Nelius Favre, A. G. Favre and Russell Elliott.
