Funeral services for Rene de Montluzin Sr., 93, Bay St. Louis, Miss., pharmacist, will be conducted Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Fahey funeral home in Bay St. Louis. Masonic services will follow at Cedar Rest cemetery.
Mr. de Montluzin, one of the oldest active pharmacists in Mississippi until recently, died Wednesday in Bay St. Louis at the home of his son, Rene Jr.
He was a past honorary president of the Mississippi State Pharmaceutical Association. He received his license as a pharmacist in 1893.
Mr. de Montluzin was born in St. James parish but spent 85 years of his life in Mississippi. Since boyhood he had been active in the drugstore founded in Bay St. Louis by his father in 1878.
As a young man he served as a lieutenant in the cost company of the Mississippi State Militia.
He was a 32 degree Mason, having been a member of the Hamasa Temple of Meridian and of the Bay St. Louis Lodge No. 429, F & A.M.
In addition to his son, he is survived by a granddaughter, niece and a nephew, R. E. E. de Montluzin of New Orleans.
Active pall bearers are John McDonald, Don McCulloch, Richard Shadoin, Sam Whitfield, San Russell, Hardin Shattuck, Alden Mauffray, all of Bay St. Louis and Richard Drown Jr. and Henry Piccaluga of New Orleans.
Honorary pall bearers are Louis J. Norman, E.S. Drake, Jesse Cowand, Dr. J.A. Evans, A.E. Voight, Andrew Spotorno, Joseph di Benedetto J.B. Goldman, Dr. Ernest Samuel, N.L. Carter, Dr. A.P. Smith, Col. C. Newton, all of Bay St. Louis, and C.A. Sporl Jr. and Harold D. Sporl of New Orleans.
