Bustetter, Lt. Col. Hugh - October 19, 1999
Lt. Col. Hugh Bustetter, 77, of Diamondhead, died Tuesday, Oct 19, 1999, in Gulfport.
Lt. Col. Bustetter was a native of Grayson, Ky. and a longtime resident of Diamondhead. He was a member of VFW Post 2880 of Diamondhead and a graduate from the University of Southern California where he received a master's degree in aeronautics.
He was retired after 33 years of military service, where he flew bombers during World War II, helicopters during the Korean Conflict and jets during the Vietnam War. He was the Wing Intelligence Officer at Keesler Air Force Base, and past affiliate of the Central Intelligency Agency. He received a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross, and was a member of the 122nd Bomb Squadron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Minnie Stewart Bustetter; and a grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Carol C. Bustetter of Diamondhead; a son, Rick Bustetter of Grayson, Ky.; two sisters, Betty Hall of Cape Coral, Fla., and Clarice Jean Burton of Grayson, Ky; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted Monday, Oct 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis is in charge of arrangements.
