Zimmerman, Dorothy "Dot" Douglas - February 2, 2006
Dorothy "Dot" Douglas Zimmerman, 79 of Waveland, MS died on Thursday, February 2, 2006. She was born on October 28, 1926 in Lafayette, LA and was a longtime resident of Waveland, MS. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland where she served on the Parish Council and was President of Our Lady's Sodality for 15 years. She was a long-time volunteer with the Hancock Medical Center "Pink Ladies", occurring over 4,000 hours of service.
She was also a member of the RSVP, AARP, and held an office with the Idlewood Property Owners Association. Dot also held office in the Hancock County Women's Club. She was an avid bridge player and played regularly with her friends. She retired after 30 years of service with the Federal Government.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold J. Zimmerman, Jr.; parents, R.T. and Isabelle Delhaye Douglas; and her brothers R.T. Douglas, Jr., Carroll Douglas and Warren Douglas.
She is survived by her children, Mary Z. Gobert and husband Ed of Diamondhead, MS, Harold "Zeek" Zimmerman and his wife Pam of Greensboro, NC, and Margaret "Missy" Z. Nulk and husband Raymond of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danielle G. Cooley and husband Dennis, Brian Gobert, Matthew & David Zimmerman, and Taylor and Blair Nulk.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Hancock Medical Center Foundation, attn.: Theresa Bourgeois, P.O. Box 2790, Bay St. Louis, MS 39521.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006 from 2:15 pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 3 pm at St. Clare Catholic Church. Burial will be private at a later date.
Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
