MacDowell, Denise Dolores DeJean - February 6, 2006
Denise MacDowell, 80, passed away in a cancer-induced but peaceful sleep at her home in Lafayette on February 6. She was born Denise Dolores DeJean in Alexandria, LA on January 28, 1926, to Armyde and Alcide DeJean. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, E.K. MacDowell; sister, Carol Rogers; brother, John DeJean; daughter Kathryn Loyacano, Margaret Sarrat, and Helen Jackson; sons Rory and Douglas; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and innumerable friends. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1946.
While much of her life was spent in south Louisiana, she and her family loved living in Bay St. Louis from 1963 to 1993. She practiced her profession at Hancock General Hospital in Bay St. Louis and also at Veteran's Hospital in Biloxi.
Celebration of her life will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church, 116 St. Jules St., in Lafayette on Saturday, February 11 at 11 a.m. If friends would like to make donations, Denise would suggest Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette or the charity of their choice.
