Gardebled, Gaston G. Jr. - June, 1979
Gaston G. Gardebled, a New Orleans businessman, died early Tuesday morning [June 1979] at the age of 79.
Services were conducted Tuesday night at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment in Lake Lawn Park.
Mr. Gardebled was the owner of the Chris Larsen Company, a general contracting firm which built many prominent building in New Orleans.
A native of Bay St. Louis, MS, [b. 3-3-1900], Mr. Gardebled took over the Chris Larsen Company on the death of his father-in-law. The company was general contractor for the Union Passenger Terminal in New Orleans.
In 1968 Mr. Gardebled was promoted to senior vice president and building expert of the Fidelity Homestead Association, a position he held until his death.
Mr. Gardebled is survived by his wife, Ethel Smith Gardebled; four daughters, Mrs. Helen June Westerhof, Mrs. Dorthy Evelyn Navaille, Mrs. Jeannie George Bennett, and Mrs. Thais Francis Cassou; and four sisters, Mrs. Lois Ard, Mrs. Irma Bolen, Mrs. Thais Knowles, and Mrs. Eula Lucia; one brother, Nevette Gardebled, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
