Mrs. Vera Mae McDowell, 61, of Picayune, died Wednesday, Feb 5, 1997 in Lucedale.
Mrs. McDowell was born May 23, 1935 in Lucedale and moved to Hancock County in 1972. She was a Baptist and a member of Little Providcencer Baptist Church in Kiln.
Survivors include her husband, Selven Lee McDowell Sr. of Lucedale; eight sons, Robert L. McDowell of Picayune, Jimmy E. McDowell of Lucedale, Michael McDowell of Waveland, Billy McDowell of Picayune, Bobby McDowell of Waveland, Selven L. McDowell of Picayune, Gary McDowell of Bay St. Louis and Jeremiah McDowell of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Ruth McDowell of Jackson, Brenda Saucier of Lucedale and Stela McDowell of Atlanta; a brother, Robert Miller of Lucedale; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Services were conducted Monday of Morning Star Baptist Church in Lucedale. Burial was in Lily Grove Cemetery in Lucedale.Robinson's Friendly Funeral Home in Moss Point was in charge of arrangements.
