In 1912 Father Aherns attended Lizana and Sherie De-aux. Father Caisse in 1915 remained one month at Lizana (' ttended Sherie Dedeaux.
To return to work of Father Sorin at De Lisle, we find at in 38 years of labor he built two churches at DeLisle, the st constructed in 1897 was destroyed by fire on February , 1905. Two churches at Sherie Dedeaux, one at Saucier, e at Vidalia, one at Cuevas 1904, one at Lizana in 1910 and ie at Dubuisson in 1912 and later one at Delmas Dedeaux. ley represent an expenditure of $20,000.00. There is not one ntof debt on any of them today. This work was made pos-ble partly by the assistance of the Catholic Church Exten-)n Society, by the kindness of many friends in various parts the country and by the sale of music which has not only ;lped to build churches, but has also in a large measure con-ibuted to his support as he labors among a class of people ho are not over-blessod with the goods of this world.

On the Mississippi Coast, so justly admired by tourists as one of those spots of this earth of unforgetable heauty, the little village of De Lisle rests four miles north of the famous resort of Pass Christian.
The first land record of a white inhabitant on Bayou de Lisle is John B. Saucier in the year 1712, while Marshall and Joseph Nicaise settled on the French Saucier grant in 1781, a grant of 800 arpents, or acres.
Then thirteen years later Philip Saucier was owner of the same land, that is in 1794. On the east side of Wolf river we find Charles Ladner, 1811; Chevalier Dedeaux, 1810 and on the north side of Wolf river Pierre Moran, 1796; on Bayou'de Lisle, Raymond Lizana, 1807.
From that time these Catholics were attended by missionaries coming either from Mobile or New Orleans. This continued until the year 1848. Here at De Lisle in this land where generations of French extraction lived in American beauty and simplicity, above all towering heavenwardly is the beautiful Gothic spire of the little church of Our Lady of Good Hope, and not very far away is the Roman tower of St. Stephen’s Church.
Before receiving the name of De Lisle, this spot was called “La Riviere des Loups”. Then in 1880 came the English name of Wolf Town, which in 1884 yielded to the present name of De Lisle. Its postoffice was created on January 31, 1884, with Geo. W. Champlin as the first postmaster. It is now known positively by word of mouth that De Lisle was named after Bayou de Lisle, which received its name from Comte De L’Jsle, a lieutenant of Bienville, who discovered the Bay of St. Louis on August 25, 1700 and called it Bay St.
