CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS Of BAY ST. LOUIS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT NO. 1* ARTICLE 1: Section 1. This organization shall be known as Bay St, Louis Volunteer Fire Department, Company No* 1. Section 2, Its object shall be the preservation and protection of property from and during fires as may occur in the Town of Bay St, Louis, Mississippi, Emergency calls from neighboring towns 3hall be responded to only by permission of the Mayor airid Chief, ARTICLE 2: Organization: Section 1, This department shall be composed of such apparatus as may be deemed necessary, by the Mayor and Commission Council of the Town of Bay St. Louis, for the efficiency of this department. Section 2, The membership of this organization shall be composed of not more than twenty (20) active members and as many non-active or retired members as the company shall see fit to have. Section 3, That ?here shall be a retired roll composed of members of the Bay St, Louis Volunteer Fire Department after having served as active members for a period of ten (10) years. It is optional with the individual member to seek retirement to-be approved by the company as a whole, by regular secret ballot, or any member becoming disabled and 'ot physically fit to perform active duties in so far as fighting fires is concerned. Any disabled member to become a non-active member must be voted on by regular secret ballot using ballot box. Any member transferred to retired roll shall have and enjoy all privileges of the Company and must abide b? all rulest regulations and bylaws except where retired members are specifically exempt. Any members passed to the retired roll are not elegible to hold the office of Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Secretary or Treasurer, or any elective office contained in the constitution. Any member wishing ta pass to retired roll shall make appli cation in writing and a committee of three (3) appointed to investigate and report back at next regular meeting with their recommendations and to be voted on by the company by regular secret ballot, ARTICLE 3. Officers, Section 1, The officers of this department shall be as follows: Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Secretary, and Treasurer, and such standing committees as may be deemed necessary for the proper transaction of business. Section 2, The standing committee shall consist of the following: Three members, Chief *nd i.ssistant Chief as a Finance Committee, Three members as a Relief Committee. Five members as an Entertainment Committee. Chairman of each committee to be named by officers making the appointment, ARTICLE 4: Election of Officers, Section 1, All officers of this organization shall be elected by secret ballot at t]*e regular meeting of this Company in April of each year and^shall sJi&Xdin office for a period of twelve months, beginning with the next regular meeting following the election, page 1
