After reading of the minutes of the Board, the Mayor rose to announce to the Board the death of the late City Treasure in the foiling words:
Gentlemen of the Board, I announce to your honorable body the death of one member of our corportation, our late City Treasurer, and my freindy John Bordages. In making the announcement,I perform a most painful service. Mr. John Bordages died on the 22nd instant about 2 o'clock in the afternoon; he was a native of France, bom about fifty three years ago; He came in this country at the age of about twenty; He was a merchant by trade, in which trade he gained a distinguished and enviable reputation; He was several times selected as a member of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of this City. In public capacity,he was a true, and tried servant,of the people, discharging the duties of every position he held, with faithfullness, honor and credit; and while by numberless acts oftcindness liberality and charity, he had twined the silvery cord of friendship about the hearts of all who knew him intimatley; he had at the same time, by honest uprightness and dealings with his fellow men, his stearling worth and unwavering integerty aunt the iron chain of respect and confidenc^bout those who knew him in business. He was an active energetic useful citizen and his death has caused ^convulsive throb in the great heart of this conrnunity.
'	My	purpose	in addressing your Honorable Body is accomplished
in tenuring to his	family and his friends,	the	heartfelt	sympathy of a
personal friend. I	offer to you Gentlemen,	the	following	resolutions.
Resolved-- that this Board has received with sensibility, the announcement of the death of John Bordages, late City Treasure, and that sincerely and deeply the Board deplores his loss.
Resolved-- That this Board tenders to his family the expression of their sympathy, in this afflicting event and as a testimonial of respect for his memory, the members and officers of this Board will wear the usuall badge of morning for thirty days and this Hall be dressed in mourning for tAx same length of time.
Resolveld that the Secretary	of this Board	be directed to
conmunicate a copy	of these proceedings to	the	family of	the Deceased.
On motion of Auguste Campe', seconded by R.V. Cuevas, and carried by the Board.
It was ordered that these resolutions and proceedings be adopted and be spread on the minutes of the Board.
