CITIZEN OF THE YEAR/SALUTE TO INDUSTRY ? THE SEA COAST ECHO Louis ?Lou? Hall Louis ?Lou? Ilall retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1986. He and his wife Neal returned to Diamondhead from Chicago. Immediately upon his return, he became involved in community enrichment activities, giving generously of his time and expertise. Over the years, he has served many organizations and still continues to volunteer in so many ways. For the past eight years, he has served on the Hancock County Port & Harbor Commission. He served foi] six years as treasurer, chair of the finance committee, and was also a member of the economic development committee, insurance committee and airport committee. This year, he served as a member of the Hancock County strategic planning task force, providing leadership to complete a five-year strategic plan for the area. An Elder in the Diamondhead Community Church, he is currently Chair Louis Hall of the Pastoral Nominating Committee. Formerly, he served as finance committee chair and treasurer of the endowment committee. lie represented the Port & Harbor Commission for Foreign Trade Zone Board #92. As one of the organizers of the Diamondhead Water & Sewer District, Lou served as one of the district,s five original commissioners. He is a member of the Diamondhead Business & Professional Association. For the past 14 years, he has served as a member of the Hancock County Republican Party Executive Committee. He was a Board mer?ber for the United Way of Hancock County for many years. He is also a member of the East Hancock Elementary School Pal?s Program, a reading enhancement program for first graders. An active member of the USM Alumni Association and Eagle Club, he is also a patron and former funding raising committee member for the Diamondhead Performing Arts Association. An original organizer and former President of the Diamondhead Tennis Association, he is also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Krewe of Diamondhead, and Krewe of Boaters Association. It is because of this and much more that we call Lou Hall, one of Hancock County?s Outstanding Citizens.
