Memorial to Ezelda Lirig 3/'</n(e

Last week Hancock Qpmjty lost one of it?s most important and beloved citizens, Ezelda Ling, who served untiringly for more than 20 years as County Health Nurse.
Her duties were legion, as she cared for the health of the needy and the sick of all ages, from the cradle to the grave. Her heavy schedule not only covered responsibilities' in the Health Clinic, but she nursed and took care of the sick in their homes. Her comforting and reassuring competent manner was a great source of consolation to the large number of senior citizens and shut-ins of our area, who had few resources other than the help she brought to them. Only the persons who knew her well are aware of the tremendous assistance
and kindness, above and beyond the call of duty, which she gave to anyone who requested her help.
As a young widow and former Navy Nurse, she left her home in Ohio with her invalid Mother and two small daughters in search of a warmer climate. While driving through Bay St. Louis there was something about the town and it?s people which attracted her, and she decided this was the city in which she wanted to live. She soon learned to be comfortable and happy with us, and we reciprocated by claiming the Ling family as our own.
Let us not soon forget this Angel of Mercy who lived so quietly in our midst for so many years, giving, loving and serving the people of Hancock County.
