Eddie Murtagh Pam Metzler when he was elected to the position. He also said that he worked for his predecessor for six years prior to being elected to the office which he has held now for 16 years. ?The association keeps us educated in the changing laws. She has also served as treasurer, secretary, second vice-president and first vice-president of the circuit clerks. ?There are 82 circuit clerks in the state. Through our association we keep up with changing laws and work with various state agencies,? Metzler said. Metzler has served as circuit clerk since 1988 and ran unopposed in the last election. She has worked in the circuit clerk?s office since 1983 and prior to that, worked in the chancery clerk?s office. ?This position will take up a lot of my time and I will be having to travel quite a bit, but it is something that I am extremely proud of,? she said.
