On October 13, 1913 in Hancock County on Firetower Road a little girl name Zellyann Josephine Shiyou was born to a Mary Perkins Shiyou and Rayford Shiyou.

About the first thing that Ann can remember is when Herbert was bom. He was bom in Gulfport. Not to long after Herbert was born her mother got sick and they had to take her back to Gulfport Hospital were she died. They were told that she died with complications from childbirth but her death certicated reads something else.
Ann does not remember her mother at all. Grandma Z^y^^ftosephine lived by them in Rocky Hill. When papa sold his land she sold hers and moved with them to the Kiln.
After Mama died she took care of us. Grandma hired k black lady from the Kiln to come & do the washing. Grandma took care of Herbert, did the cooking and cleaned. This lady was called Aunt Martha. She would bring them syrup cookies & they were so good she wished she could have some now. Grandma paid her $1.00 a day. Aunt Martha would come early in the morning and they would cross her over the Bayou in a boat. ? I wish she was still around, I bet she could tell us some Shiyou Stories?
Tony Lott grew up with us, he was like our brother. He was raised up in the same house with us. We alw'ays had a lot of food. Papa and them all worked at the mill.
