BARBARA BALTER received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from William Carey College. Her palette includes mostly earth tones that convey her feelings about nature and the world around her.
BARBARA finds a great deal of inspiration from literary works, blues music and life near the Bay of Saint Louis as she pursues her masters degree in painting and drawing.
She has previously exhibited her works at the George Ohr Museum and the Sarah Gillespie Gallery of William Carey College.
"Most of my training has been hands on under other working artists. I owe a large debt to Skip Van Houten for allowing me to apprentice under him in sculpture, and also to my older sister, Ann Biedenham Jones, a painter, for providing a role model when I was young.
Most of the first ten years of my adult life were spent away from my native Mississippi. I've lived and worked in Taos, New Mexico, traveled and studied in Europe and been to most of the major museums in this country and abroad.
You may find the works of BARBARA BALTER at her home studio cm Phillip Street in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.
