Fire Raze
Fire of undetermined origin swept through the two-story Clermont Harbor hotel, at Clermont Harbor, Miss., and in less than two hours razed the familiar Gulf coast landmark j-esterday.
The hotel which was opened Saturday for ’the first time in 12 years was completely renovated during the past six months, according to W. L. Guerin, president of the Clermont Harbor Hotel Corporation, owners of the building.
Guerin estimated the loss at $75,000, asserting that the structure was built almost entirely of cypress, which he said cannot be replaced.
Edward Griffin, operator of the hotel’s restaurant, discovered the blaze about 4:30 a. m. and quickly ran through the building, awakening the nine occupants. No one was injured, although all their personal possessions were lost.
The fire attracted hundreds of week-end visitors at the resort town, who watched the building burn to the ground, without the appearance of any fire-fighting apparatus.

untouched by the blaze. A high wind which blew in a northerly direction kept the flames directed away from the pavilion.
Mrs. Alice Agregaard was manager of the hotel. An unidentified occupant of the place was said to have lost $2700 in cash, and others reported the loss of valuable jewelry.
