Mondio." This record is poorly written by a Spanish priest and recorded at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. We feel certain these parents are our Susanne Fayard dit LaLancette and Baptiste Favre. "Felicite Fayard" (born 1762) and "Bautista Fabre" (Favre), (born about 1762 based on the known age of his wife) had a child Baptized on June 27,1796, (St. Louis Cathedral, Bapt. Bk. 3, p. 8) called "Andre Estevan Fabre," born on October 31,1789. The paternal grandparents listed were "Juan Fabre and Margarita (no last name given). This is our Jean Claude Favre and Marguerite Wiltz. The maternal grandparents listed were "Juan Begins and Francisca Fiso." Godparents were "Pedro Panguinet and Francisca Paguinet." The record says all were "natives of Mobile." Felicite was born on August 24, 1762, daughter of Jean Pierre Fayard dit LaLancette and Francoise Fisseau dit Delorme. Why the priest listed Jean's last name as "Begins" instead of Fayard dit LaLancette is unknown. It could be another example of priest messing up names or had some other meaning. "Felicite Fayard and Bautista Fabre" (Favre) had a 2nd child baptized the same day at St. Louis Cathedral named "Carlos Josef Fabre," born on January 1,1793, with the same Baptism book, page, parents and grandparents listed. "Felicitas Ancette" (LaLancette) and Bautista Fabre" (Favre) had a grandson, "Luis Fabre", baptized on December 15,1816, (SSC Bapt. Bk. 31, p. 14). He was the son of "Andres Fabre and Susana Harco" (Carco). Maternal grandparents were "Nicolas Harco and Catherina Ladner." "Susana Fayard and Juan Bautista LaLanzet" were named as the maternal grandparents on the baptism record of "Angelica Favre" who was born July 10,1802, (SLC Bapt. Bk. 4, act 330). This record gives her parents as "Carlos Favre and Luisa LaLanzet." Paternal grandparents were listed as "Simon Favre and Angelica Ladner." From this baptism record, we have learned: 1. The "Simon Favre" listed is actually Charles "Chariot" Favre, Sr., (born about 1754) based on the known age of his wife) who married Angelique Ladner dit Christian. Angelique was born on December 22,1754, as found on her SLC baptism record (SLC, BB 3, p. 42a). Angelique's parents were Jean Baptiste Ladner dit Christian and Marie Louise Fisseau dit DeLorme. This Angelique Ladner married a second time to Jean Baptiste Lardasse on April 4, 1799, (SLC) and prior to this marriage had one daughter, Euphrosine Favre Lardasse, born on July 21,1787, (SLC). Euphrosine's baptism record gives her last name as "Favre" and her father was listed as "Incognito", or unknown. The "Favre" last name was probably incorrectly assigned to Euphrosine because her mother was still using the Favre name and Angelique was not yet married to Lardasse. When a child is baptized to unmarried parents, the father's name is often omitted. The above Charles "Chariot" Favre, Sr., was the son of Jean Claude Favre and an unidentified mother, probably a full Choctaw Indian. If accurate, this would make Charles Favre, Sr. 1/2 Indian. This Charles Favre, Sr., is dead by 1784 as explained on pages 119 -128 of our Favre History. This Charles "Chariot" Favre, Sr., cannot be the son of the Simon Favre who was born in 1760, while this Charles was born about 1754 as discussed above. 2. The above Baptism of "Angelica Favre" shows her father as "Carlos Favre" and mother as "Luisa LaLanzet." Carlos is actually Charles "Chariot" Favre, Jr. The record says his parents were "Carlos Favre and Angelica Ladner" and they were "natives of Bay St. Louis." Charles 2
