Bond Commission. He was a communicant of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. When he was buried in Cedar Rest Cemetery, L&N trains came to the side of the cemetery and tolled their bells. The Historical Society has 26 letters hand written by Mr. Marshall between 1904 and 1927 to Brother Joseph Dutton in Illinois. The letters were found by a lady in the attic of her home and mailed to the Historical Society. She wrote of the letters: ?I watched him age, felt his heartbreak with the losing of his vision, the pride of his children?s accomplishments, the hut in losing a grandchild, and his desire for better healthcare for his friend and the lepers through several decades of writing.
