SECTION C MANAGEMENT AND PERSONNEL
I.	MANAGEMENT
Paddle Wheel Productions, Inc., has five people in management and leadership roles: the three founding incorporators: Mary H. Ellis, Beth Hudson, and Martha H. Hood, plus Don Hood and Kenneth McDade
Mary Ellis is President and CEO of PaddleWheel Productions and Artistic Director of the Troubadours acting company. For the last five years she has been engaged full-time in the preparations necessary to get the Company started and to develop a repertory theatre on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Prior to that time, she worked professionally with higher education organizations in strategic and long range planning, organizational management, resource development, and budget planning and management. In addition to work as an administrator in higher education, she taught theatre for many years at the university level, worked as artistic and technical director for numerous productions and was involved in all aspects of theatre operation. She has written two plays, three musicals (books, lyrics, and music) and two children’s musicals. Three additional musicals are in process. Her first play, Ihe Cry of the Jay, was chosen as the official state drama for the Mississippi Centennial Celebration in 1961 and was produced on 19 occasions for that celebration. She was for 12 years Production Chair on the Board of Governors of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, the oldest continuously operating community theatre in the United States. Dr. Ellis has an undergraduate degree in political science and journalism, a masters in theatre, and a doctorate in higher education administration, plus seven years of training in music.
Beth Hudson is CFO for PaddleWheel Productions and Lighting Designer for the Troubadours. For the last five years she has been engaged full-time in the preparations necessary to get the Company started and to develop a repertory theatre on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Prior to that time, she worked for twelve years as the accountant for and then controller of a large insulating company. For five years she was membership secretary and bookkeeper for Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre. She has worked as business manager of a summer stock company and a dance company. She has extensive experience as a professional Stage Manager and as a Technical Director. She has taught theatre management and stage lighting. She has worked in lighting design for professional, college, dinner, and community theatre, specializing in lighting design for dance. Miss Hudson has 27 years training and experience as a music soloist, playing in symphony, quartets, and pit orchestra for opera and in musicals playing violin, viola, and oboe. She has a BS in business administration (economics and finance) and graduate work toward both a masters in theatre and a master of social work.
In 1991, Dr. Ellis and Miss Hudson assisted in founding the Black Rose Theatre Company, the Brandon-Rankin County community theatre which has grown from zero membership to nearly 300 and three years-ago won first place honors at both the Mississippi Theatre Association competitions, and at the South East Theatre Conference. The Black Rose Board relied heavily on their expertise in artistic and technical direction, in training personnel, in finding a building which could be converted to a theatre, and then in making the conversion: i.e., building and equipping the stage, constructing the auditorium to get the best sight lines and meet handicapped and safety codes, constructing an elevated light booth, and purchasing lighting equipment
