Mississippi, great-grandson of our Jesse Cameron, said he was told that Alford was a brother to Jesse Cameron. He was also told that Alfred was a “small, but quick man.” George never heard of him having any children.
VIII.	William J. Cameron - bom in 1822 in South Carolina as found in the 1860 census of Perry County, Mississippi. In the 1850 Perry County census, he was born in 1822 in “Mississippi.” In the 1870 Perry County census, he was bom in 1820 in “North Carolina,” and finally in the 1880 Perry County census, he was bom in 1822 in South Carolina and living on Black Creek. In the 1850 and 1860 censuses, he was living next door to his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cameron and her children. In all 4 of these censuses, William’s wife was referred to as “Jane Cameron.”
The previously mentioned Loma Schindler located an old “Homestead Exemption Application” by William J. Cameron dated August 13, 1883, in Perry County, Mississippi. This application says William died in September 1883, and the application was continued by his “widow, Jane Cameron.” She says she was bom in 1830, and they had 8 children. Throughout this record, Jane’s husband is referred to as “William J. Cameron” (Mississippi State Archives).
Several older relatives told us Jane’s maiden name was “Dearman.” She was also a sister to Drusilla “Drusy” Dearman, wife of Alexander “Alex” Cameron, brother of this William J. Cameron - two sisters married two brothers! One of those informants was Mrs. Almedia Saucier Cameron, living near Richton, Mississippi. She was age 91 in 1972 and of good memory. Also giving us plenty of information in 1971 was the above mentioned, John “Bryant” Cameron (bom in 1885), grandson of Alexander “Alex” and Drusilla Cameron. He was also a grandson of William J. and Jane Cameron - his parents were first cousins. See the Alexander “Alex” Cameron section of this report for more. Additional information was also given by Bryant’s first cousin’s widow, Mrs. Joseph W. (Bennie) Cameron, also living in the Oak Grove Community. Her husband, Joseph W. was bom in 1895, the son of Thomas “Isaac” Cameron.
The children of William J. and Jane Cameron were:
A.	Melissa A. Cameron — bom in Mississippi in 1847 according to the 1850 census of Perry County, Mississippi. In 1972, Mrs. Almedia Saucier Cameron (wife of below William “Theodore” Cameron) told us Melissa married George W. Bounds and lived in Lamar County, Mississippi. They had:
1.	George W. Bounds, Jr.
2.	Steven “Rankin” Bounds
3.	John R. Bounds
4.	William S. Bounds
5.	James A. Bounds
6.	Thomas A. Bounds
7.	Mary Bounds
