Midwest Living Feature...
Midwest Living (magazine) special 1988 Holiday Edition features in its Heartlanders section, “The Orphan Train Rids,” written by George Hendrix.
A full color photo of thirteen Orphan Train Riders attending the St. Paul, Nebraska, New York Foundling Hospital Reunion in May of 1988; Mary Tenopir’s story of finding family, and John R. Harmon’s story of never knowing more than his birthname make the article very interesting.
OTHSA has requested reprints of the article for members who do not live in Midwest Living’s circulation area. To order this issue, write to Meredith Corp., 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, LA 50336. The edition is “December, 1988, Vol. 2, No. 6.” The price is $2.50 but you may need to enclose postage. Send OTHSA $5.00 ($2.50 for postage) and we will mail copies out until the five extras we have are gone.

The Dallas Morning News, October 16,1988, featured in its “Today” section an excellent article written by Leslie Barker on her interviews with Orphan Train Riders at the 1988 First Annual OTHSA Reunion.
The Baton Rouge Advocate, Sunday, October
9,1988,	gave the OTHSA Reunion full coverage. Ed Cullin’s article on page 2F was followed by Keith Lawrence’s interview of Frank McDermott, Monroe, LA, on the next page.
The Daily Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, October 7,1988, gave Carla Hinton’s story on Alice Bullis Ayler a front page headline across five columns.
Wyandotte West, Kansas City, KS, offered its front page story October 20,1988, on the OTHSA Reunion and Millie Tracy’s story. Stormy Wylie, managing editor, attended the Reunion as a descendant of an Orphan Train Rider and while there met a Rider from her area, thus developing the feature story.
New York Newsday, October 8,1988, on pages 6 and 25 printed Jessie Mangaliman’s “Reunion Recalls the ‘Orphan Train.” Photos of Jean Sexton, Tulsa, OK, and of a portrait of Charles Loring Brace brought attention to the very well written article.
