A cloudy morning.
Splashes of green, blue, red, and black seen in the hall.
Tennis shoes In hand, question on her face—will we have it?
"Remain in home rooms until further notice.” Silence, legs are crossed, hair pushed behind ears, desks scrape the floor.
A cleared throat, "Did anyone see "The Crulclble” last night?”
"Oh, yeahl”
"i was really good.”
Silence----
Sunl
The splashes of green, blue, red, and black
are now In place forming streaks-------
rows. The tennis shoes, also, are In their place.
"Will all classes report to the gym?” "Come on, Susan!”
"Watch out, Karenl”
"The Freshmn have fifty points already I” Blistered feet carry a sweating body Into the gym up the bleachers.
Red faces and lumpy throats sing:
"We love you Juniors,
We love you Sophomores,
We love you Freshmen,
We love you Seniors.”
The gym slowly empties.
"Who won, anyway?”
For the fourth consecutive year, the senior Pierrettes nabbed top honors In the annual Field Day classic held this year May 5 on campus. Winning first place In the track relay, 50-yard dash, 3-legged race, and running broad jump, Susan Ryan secured the coveted title of "Best All Around Athlete.” Brenda Hudson, Sera Segal and Noel Phillips all tied for the second place award. Walking off with third place honors was Beverly Stechmann.
Tlie events varied from indoor to outdoor, difficult to easy, fun-like to the more serious. Winning the basketball crib shots was Senior Brenda Hudson. Capturing top'honors in the suitcase race was Junior Kathy DahL Sophomore Amy Lynch was awarded once again first place In the potato race. Noel Phillips, with her olymplc-like skills, stole the highest a-ward In the famous mile race.
Under the supervision of Mrs. Calo-vinl, Field Day proved to be a fun day In which the students could display their athletic talents and cheer their class on to success.

Students honor Mary in ceremony M. Lucia crowns Our Lady
The annual crowning of Our Lady ol the Woods was held May 10th at the school shrine. Melissa Lucia, president of the Religious Organization, crowned the statue. Students sang and recited “The Magnificat.” The following homily is reprinted because the editors feel it is a fitting closing of a tradition most dear to St.
Joseph.
Man through the ages has turned to Mother Earth at this time each year to show thanks for all she has given him and in a small way, his respect for her fruitfulness.
It is fitting therefore that we Christians show our respect and appreciation for 0mr Mother Mary: for her Intercession in our behalves, for her true mother love for us all.
We then, today, crown her as queen of this season of new life, as queen of all of God’s beauties. We pray that she will continue to be our Mother and shower us each year with her love just as Mother Earth renews her love for mankind each year by the life-giving season of spring.
Piano recital given Students show talent
The annual piano recital presented by the music students of Sister Augustine wap held the evening of May 15thlin St. Joseph’s gym.
Participants from S.J.A. were Jean-,nlne Glanelloni, Leverna Benigno, Debbie Toca, Germaine Giani, FranyaFran-ckiewicz, Miriam Malfonado, Dina Tri-sotto, Cindl Goble, Mary Ann Home, and Mary Ellen Mirphy.
Among the selections were*1 Sonatinas” ( which they played In Enid,. Oklahoma for the Tri-State Music Meet) rendered by Debbie Toca and Franya Franckiewlcs; "Dominique” by Le verna Benigno; "Try to Remember” and "Dog Gone Boogie” by Mary Ann Home; and "Juba” by Mary Ellen Murphy.
