00333 3 During their absence tables had been spread in the garden in the rear, and the Company on their return had the satisfaction of indulging, not only in cold meats and poultry, sufficient for three times their number, but in crabs of a size and swe^ness positively extraordinary. First Day Breakfast over, the combined influence of sea bathing and the refreshing breeze vas not long in lulling all to sleep; but many of the livelier ones, prone to midnight songs and seven-up, passed the entire morning in this judicious manner. Others went sailing, and more vandered listlessly over the country, visiting the pine woods, the back bay, and various other places of interest. Returning- again to the hospitable fehade, a sumptuous dinner, arranged on three large tables out in the open air, was prepared. One can be certain the claret was not long in flowing freely, nor toasts to everybody very tardy in their coming. Base Ball Game After a smoke and a rest on the galleries, the excxmsionists repaired to a large field where had been arranged a game of Base Ball. According to the first programme the Company divided itself into two clubs, one to represent the city and the other Biloxi, and it was proposed to play g a game on these terms. The R. E. Lees and Palmettos hearing of it, concluded to represent the town themselves, and formed a combination of portions of the two organizations, by which they gained the day. of whom were ladies.
