The P.B.O. called upon heads of the Merchants, Gulf and Hancock Banks, and received an enthusiastic response to a request for a small safety deposit box free of charge for 100 years, box to b& opened July 4, in the year 2076. These boxes to contain naterials felt to be of historic significance to our posterity. The naterials selected to be under the guidance and direction of a committee named and headed by the President of the Hancock County Historic Society. Guide lines for the use of the Bank Boxes to be set up by the Historic Preservation Committee and published as a matter of public interest.
Coastal
Pa r t i c i pa t ion:
The P.H.O. and Chairman of the Hancock County Picentennial Commission attended all meetings called by the Coast-wide bicentennial Committee. These meetings included participation in Contest plans, Activities in Greater G-ulfcoast Art, •Saenger Theater Restoration, Herald-3un bicentennial publicity and promotion, Heesler Airforee Tase Open House'and other activities.
Cemeteries Pec-sry ^-ibbens and Hrs. Boudreaux spearhead cemetery restoration and improvement projects and through the Hancock Historic Society are in process of recording data from several cemeteries within the county. This Committee is also responsible for .-^rave decorations on appropriate occasions. They have devoted endless hours to this important x-;ork.
