^Illinois. At the end of 19 31, Tom Hitchcock and John Covode were elected Elders and Paul Smith and Kay Coleman Deacons. Kay would later be elected as the first woman chairman of this group. Vonnie Bodenschatz was elected a Deacon in 1982. Alice Hondzinski joined the church in 1983. In February of this year, Kay Coleman organized a Food Bank through the church, approved by the Session and supported by the Somen of the Church. Donations of food were distributed by Kay and her committee of Kay Covode and Vonnie Bodenschatz to people in need as specified by the Welfare Department. The first year and a half, over 300 people were served. The project was later taken over by June Johnston. Lilia Adams joined the church after moving here with her daughter Christine Tunic.
In 1984, the church voted to sell the Manse for $90,000 at a congregational meeting held August 12. Larry Roberts was elected to the Council of the South Mississippi Presbytery this year. Also, the church voted to change to a unicameral government having only a Board of Elders and Joe Murrow and Alice Hondzinski were elected Elders. Vonnie Bodenschatz, Pamela Quinn and George Schro'eder were also ordained as Elders in 1985.
In 1986 Niccole Bodenschatz joined the church; monthly family dinners were reinstated by the Johnstons and Alice Hondzinski; Ed Ling was elected an Elder. In September of 1987, the Session regretfully noted the necessity to discontinue Pre-School and Kindergarten classes after sixteen years.
The Session expressed thanks and sincere appreciation to the late Howard Haines and his widow Susan* for their devotion in contributing funds, leadership and interest in these classes. In October of this year Larry Roberts was nominated and approved as Moderator of the .Presbytery Council and Alice Hondzinski was placed on the Christian Nurture Commission.
In November of 1987, Ed Ling and Alice Hondzinski participated in the Orange Grove Mission neighborhood canvas. Dr. Stephen Southern was the speaker at the church Thanksgiving dinner that year. He and his wife
