In 1999, the casino contributed a total of $1,057,778 to Hancock County in property taxes, and a total of $2,264,966 to the City of Bay St. Louis in gaming taxes. Additionally, the Bay-Waveland School District received $323,567. The state of Mississippi received $7,071,366 in gaming taxes and $954,908 for Mississippi sales and use taxes. Casino Magic Bay St. Louis contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community through donations and sponsorships. Additionally, casino team members are often involved in community service such as the Christmas in April home revitalization project and fund raisers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi. The casino hosts monthly charity slot tournaments in which all proceeds go directly to a designated charity in Hancock County. Each Thanksgiving, management gives turkeys to team members. Often, in turn, team members donate their turkeys to less fortunate families in the county. Casino Magic Bay St. Louis is a 591-acre property that includes a 201-room hotel, 100-site R.V. park, Arnold Palmer golf course, marina, four restaurants, over 1,100 slot machines and over 40 table games. The casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. Christmas in April Casino Magic Employees help renovate a house on Main Street in Bay St. Louis for the Christmas in April project. Christmas in April is a national nonprofit organization that annually provides one day of home repair and rehabilitation services for deserving homeowners. Referrals come from area churches, civic organizations and individuals. Sponsor groups adopt selected homes and conducted repairs at no cost to the homeowners. Casino Mrgic Bay St. Louis employees were some of the most enthusiastic volun-laers for the day’s event, and routinely give back to the community.
