This success is due to the efforts of every one person connected with the bank; with every patron; with every outsider who loves his or her town and never allows an opportunity to go by without a goodjword. To Mr. G. R. Rea, the wide-awake cashier, is due directly much of the bank’s success. He is active and ever on the alert for business; prompt in its discharge, and courteous to one and all and : no effort is ever spared towards the uplifting and business - building of the bank. His work is of the telling kind and is appreciated.	,

The Merchants’ Bank.
The fourth annual stockholders meeting of tbe Merchants’' Bank was held la‘st Monday night, and the progress made by that institution shows up splendidly, as judged by the28 percent, dividend declared. An era of prosperity has been enjoyed by the batiks of this State during ths past few years, espe--cially those of south Mississippi, and the Merchants’ Bank has come 'in for its shdre.	r
Within the past few months the bank has erected and moved into a building of its own, and it is conceded to be one of the handsomest on tbe coast.
The officers elected for the ensuing year are: C. L. Hopkins, president; Dr. Roger de Montluzin, vice-president; L. M. Gex, vice president; Geo. R. Rea, cashier; John B. S^portono, assistant cashier. Tbe directors of the bank are: R. R. Perkins, C. L. Hopkins, A. L. Stockoe, J. A. Breath, John K. Edwards, C. G. Moreau, John Osoinach, J. O. Mauffray, H. H. Gordon, L. M. Gex and Dr. Roger de Montluzin. These gentlemen are well-known throughout the cou-ntv, the majority of whom are among the best business men of our city.

The Merchants Bank has sent out notices to its stockholders announcing the regular annual meeting, to be held at its banking rooms on October 16, 1908. Considering the financial stringency of the past year and that the period in question has made times hard with the banks, the Merchants has * done exceptionally well, and there will no doubt be a healthy dividend declared for Chose fortunate to hold stock in this thrivings^young concern. The bank will close -its fifth year on the date of the meeting, and ever since its opening Mr. Geo. R. Rea, assisted by Mr. John B. Spotorno, has been its cashier. No meade of praise too great can be said of Mr. Rea in behalf of his untiring efforts for- the bank’s success and in a measure largely due to his own in; dividual attention can be attributed this success. Mr. Spotorno, too, has given his undivided attention; bis work has been unceasing and his duties ^t the bank are alWays of the very first consideration.

Bay St Louis, Oct. 17.—The fifth annual stockholders’ meeting of the Merchants' Bank was held last night A most creditable showing was made, evidencing a material Increase of business since the bank’s organization.
