The 75 or 80 men who work for the W. F. Zimmerman,Lumber Co. at Handsboro went out on strike at 6 o'clock P. August 16, 1898. As a consequence, both the sawmill and planers are closed down.
Questions are the number of hours that constitute a day’s work. The men have been working elevenjiours for a day but demanded a £sr ten hour j3ay which demand was refused, hence the strike.
The men all belong to the Knights of Labor. Everything is perfectly quiet and orderly, and it is thought the matter will be adjusted at once and the men will return to work.
